Through a site- and material-driven practice, Jenny Käll works with sculpture and installation with elements of text and video. Her work revolves around the human relationship and approach to materials, other beings, and landscapes. In a poetic play on the border between object and body, figurative and abstract, constant and fleeting, different materials are allowed to merge seamlessly into each other. With association as a tool and space for the random, she strives to reach a place beyond the limits of her own ideas.
The exhibition som sten (like stone) shows works that have been developed based on a disused marble quarry, materials from demolition houses and a desire to be a cairn.
Jenny Käll (b. 1988) lives and works in Örebro. She has studied a bachelor’s degree in ceramics and glass at Konstfack and a master’s degree in fine art at Umeå Academy of Fine Art.
