Expanding the subtle act of perceiving to air conditions, the solo exhibition Cedem os Céus como Véus / Himlen viker sig Som Slöjor turns its focus to the fragility of an encounter with the atmosphere. Drawing inspiration from a research period in Kilpisjärvi, where an outdoor metal tower of a Biological Research Station became a laboratory.
Covering topics such as height, dimension, spatiality, and reverie, Juju Bento recontextualises the materiality of air and the profound possibilities that breathing and climbing a tower can open. With a scientific approach, she investigates atmospheric dimensions as a material condition that influences the body. Air is presented as both an invisible and visible shared matter through light, sound transmits a dreaminess of a place, while drawings and sculptures propose a physical abyss.
This site-sensitive exhibition places particular emphasis on human tactility, reflecting on the delicacy and necessity of the air matter conditions. The artist invites individuals to recognise the shareness of breathing the same atmosphere.
