AS SOON AS I GET A FEELING, I DIE

LILITH

On March 20, Galleri Box opens AS SOON AS I GET A FEELING, I DIE – a solo exhibition by the artist duo LILITH.

Welcome to the opening reception on Friday, March 20, 5–8 pm.
On April 12 at 3:00 pm, LILITH will also present the critically acclaimed performance

I AM EXTREME in a completely new version for Galleri Box.

AS SOON AS I GET A FEELING, I DIE takes its starting point in an extensive collaboration that LILITH initiated in 2023 together with actors with disabilities from Moomsteatern and Teaterakademin – Daily Activities in Malmö. The collaboration culminated in the total performance ENCHANTING DISPLACEMENT, presented at Lilith Performance Studio in 2023.

In the exhibition As Soon as I Get a Feeling, I Die, LILITH continues this work with new film, text, sound, and sculptural pieces. Through intuitive visual worlds and collage-like processes, the ability to be human is explored from the perspective of our various physical and mental displacements and variations.

In recent years, LILITH’s work has largely revolved around inner human states and driving forces, where self-invented rites and ceremonies have become an important unifying element. Rites that create meaning and belonging—both at dramatic turning points and in everyday situations. The rite can be understood as a set of rules within games, play, and performative presentations in all their forms. LILITH’s interest in ritual focuses on its significance both from a micro perspective—holding together small groups such as the family, circle of friends, or sect—and from a global perspective, where religion, nation, and ultimately the entire species become central to humanity’s drive to survive.

LILITH proposes alternative patterns of thought to the agreed-upon reality we voluntarily or involuntarily conform to. These are worlds where norms are ambiguous and contradictory, where rules pull in different directions, and where meaning often arises in the in-between rather than in what is directly comprehensible. Here, what takes place in thought and dream is as true as what unfolds in the external world.

LILITH is the artist duo Elin Lundgren (b. 1973 in Stockholm, lives and works in Linderöd and Malmö) and Petter Pettersson (b. 1972 in Kristinehamn, lives and works in Linderöd and Malmö). The duo has worked together with visual and performing arts in various forms since 1999 and has presented their work both in Sweden and internationally, most recently at Tomelilla Konsthall, CHART CPH 2025, Avesta Art, Södertälje Konsthall, and Malmö Konstmuseum.

In 2007, the duo founded Lilith Performance Studio—an acclaimed and independent arena for practical artistic research focused on newly produced large-scale art performances by invited artists from around the world.
