Anna Sissela Gustavsson: Showroom
Opening Reception Saturday February 18th noon-4pm
Anna Sissela Gustavsson’s exhibition, Showroom, transforms the gallery
space into a place where two worlds meet. The work consists of distorted
objects charged with sexuality and hostility. Gustavsson’s artistic
practice problematizes the definition of the concepts of upbringing,
desire and adaptation. She works with sculpture and installation, where
amongst other things she assembles cast toys.
‘ I want the ulterior mechanisms of the sex and toy industries to meet
and weave together through their already common ground: colors, motif,
design and material’
Anna Sissela Gustavsson, b.1978 in Varberg, Sweden, has lived and worked
in Gothenburg since several years and received her MFA from the Valand
School of Fine Arts in spring 2010. Showroom is her first solo exhibition.
