1-31/5 Writing Group with IASPIS fellow Julia Calver

In May 2015 Julia Calver will be IASPIS fellow hosted by Galleri Box and based in Konstepidemin.
Julia will use the residency to produce new writing. In November 2014 she co-curated the art writing event Nearly and Nervous Nearly and Now, hosted at Galleri Box, with Esmeralda Valencia Lindström. The event was supported by Arts Council England and the British Council; the City of Gothenburg and OkiDoki! Arkitekter. Following on from this event Julia will be meeting curators and publishers and those working with artists’ writing in Gothenburg. She will use the studio space as a place for conversations and rehearsals and has a particular interest in talking about artists’ writing in relation to performance and literature. The studio will become a stage for performance, bringing a new focus to her distribution of her own work in her own voice. The writing she is interested in making fixes on small things, things that are fragmentary and brief, to test how brevity and brokenness are given as descriptions of what is called experimental in writing.

Welocme to participate in Writing Group

Thursdays:14th, 21st, 28th May
6pm-9pm Guest Studio 3 Konstepidemin

An informal seminar group for artists working with writing.

Bring work in progress to read and discuss, texts or extracts of 5 minutes or less.

Focusing on experimental writing, fragments and short prose the group will aim to consider ways of articulating writing as process, as well as ideas of narrative over-determination, superstition, paranoia and reverence.

We will discuss how texts operate in transitional states including in rehearsal and live readings; translations; drafts and rewrites.

Seminar will be in English

No need to book  but if you like further information please contact Julia directly at info[at]juliacalver.co.uk

Yes, your head is held on by a pin. Show me. And – I see – you can turn it almost fully round. Front legs to mouth-part. Now wash your hands.
